Call 1994
Called in 1994 and to the Supreme Court of Queensland, Australia in 2004, Kate initially practiced in London, returning to Birmingham, her home city, in 1997. At present her practice is predominantly criminal encompassing all aspects of Crown Court work, including fraud, sexual offences, crimes against children and murder. She also undertakes a degree of personal injury work which draws upon her previous experience as a civil practitioner whilst in London.
Road haulage is her specialist area and is founded upon her family background in the haulage industry. This foundation was built upon when she was employed in a number of solicitors firms which operated solely in this area. She has experience of conducting civil and criminal cases, in addition to Public Enquiries, representing both drivers and their employers. She has particular expertise in tachograph analysis and drivers’ hours offences, in addition to statutory interpretation of the Construction Regulations. She also has wider experience of transport related issues such as product liability and ‘grey’ imports, and vintage vehicle restoration disputes.
